1970s Resort Line Crocheted Bathing Suit
item LSW00008

Now you, too, can be just like Halle Berry on the cover of GQ.

Want to be a Bond Girl (hey, a little role-play might be just the ticket)? Need to make a statement at another (ho-hum) Hamptons pool party? Tie yourself into the original, often imitated but never equaled, hippy-chic swimsuit. These suits were frequently sold in the gift shops of beach resorts. You know how saucy you feel after three days of quaffing coconut drinks and slathering yourself in Hawaiian Tropic...you wouldn't have purchased this under the fluorescent nightmare of the department store fitting room. It takes a few days of sybaritic vacation fun to drop your guard. The contemporary versions of these classic suits just miss the mark - they're not as finely made and have a cruder look, missing the complexity of pattern. The copies of this original style (they crank them out in China) lack the elastic that runs under the bust and along the sides continuing down across the top of the bottom's back. In short, the knock-offs are cutting corners. Tiny little faux-tie tassel at center of cups. Bottom is elasticized and bottom front is lined. Yarn has a slight sheen to it and is a vivid red-brown-rust color. Label: KI Kaimana Imports, Hawaii
